Jodie - By Shayla Parris
“Shelly baby!” and “Shillian!” are Jodie’s favourite nicknames
for me.She says them to annoy me but I think it’s one of the
cute and quirky things about my little sister. She is annoying
at times, but I know she doesn’t mean to be irritating. That is
her specialty. Being annoying. Sometimes she will get angry at
me and then play on the “Shayla did it!” line. She doesn’t mean
to tell on me though. (Or at least I hope she doesn’t!) Most of
the time she drives me mental, and then I will think I hate her
because of the way she antagonises me for fun, but in the
end, I know I love her.
Sometimes she is this sweet little blue eyed darling, staring at
you innocently, but if you look deeply, you can find her
mischievous gleam hiding in there, and learn her jokey side.
She has a funny sense of humour. Once she was having
Weetbix for breakfast, and mum was leaning over her
shoulder, watching to see if she’d put too much in, because
she often does and wastes the rest of the food in her bowl.
She was fine until the sugar bowl appeared. “Don’t put too
much sugar on your Weetbix”, mum warned her. Jodie started
pouring the sugar onto her breakfast.
She finished pouring one teaspoon onto her Weetbix and dug
the teaspoon into the bowl to scoop out another.”Jodie” Mum
said in her ‘thats enough’ voice. “I think you should put away
the sugar now.” Mum warned her again. “It’s not enough
though”, Jodie had complained. “That is enough” Mum had said.
“I think it’s time to put away the sugar bowl.” Reluctantly
Jodie dropped the lid back on the pot, sighing. “Good
decision”. Mum said. “Oh, but it wasn't really my decision”
Jodie had said smartly, but cutely.
She is beautiful, with wide blue eyes, fringed with long black lashes, her wavy chocolate, copper streaked hair tumbling across her face, her cute
button nose, her little mouth in a fake pout position. Her head
rested in her small hands. Hair tumbling down in a wave. Jodie
is rather cute at times but she will play on that to get what
she wants. She is annoying in a cute way sometimes, but in
other ways, she is just plain infuriating!
If I like something Jodie will suddenly love it, and has “loved
it for ages.” I am “copying her.” She is very independent, so if
I tell her the answer to something she will get upset. In her
spare time she likes to read books. I think she is going to turn
into a major bookworm like me! She also likes to draw, play
‘adventures’ on her bike with an old backpack slung over her
shoulder, or invent something. (Which may I add, doesn’t
always work out! I feel weak when I think about her string
trap at the top of the stairs.)
Ok, this is one thing that I do not understand about my sister
and makes me think she is insane! Almost every single weekend
morning she will get up super early. Lets try 5:30-6:00am!
Crazy, I know right! She has certain programs that she loves,
and when I wake up and pad downstairs her eyes will be glued
to the TV with super-super glue. So I really do love my sister,
even with her annoying habits and cute quirky nature, I like
her just the way she is. Even her exasperating side. After all,
she is my sister.
Katie - By Johnny Parris
There laying on the couch, a young girl with long hair billowing over her shoulders and down her back. She has long-legs like a young deer and short strong arms with bony hands and fingers.
Her mood changes like the colors of a chameleon. Her eyes a deep blue either filled with happiness or drowned in anger.
A high pitched almost squeaky voice that can be filled with hatred when she is agitated. She trots along bouncily like a horse walking happily. A free spirit with active aspirations.
